The Secret Garden: Sketchbook (4)

 So I have been awful this week at keeping to my lent challenge! However, this isn't because I havn't been working. I am pleased to say I have masses of work to blog about so intend to be blogging a plenty next week!

 I've started my next project on 'Secrets and Lies'. I've spent about two weeks on this project and have loads of exciting ideas, so much so I will need to start narrowing it down very soon!

 These images are from a little book of stories about secrets and lies. I've started with The Secret Garden.

 I've always loved the secret garden. There's something magical about it. I love the key she finds in the box, and how she can escapes the strange adult world, with this key through a gate covered in ivy.

 Gardens they are always changing and moving on; they don't stand still; always growing. There is something beautiful in that.

 I used pastals, an ink pen and collage to make these images.

Project 3: Final Outcomes (briefly)

 Two photos of some of the final outcomes from project 3. The area I hung my work had really bad lighting and the photos arn't good. I will be scanning them in a little date so better pictures will follow.

A Flowery Birthday Card

 A birthday card for a friend. Stitch, water colour and ink on paper.

 The imagery was inspired from one of my favourite birthday cards.

 Text inside. I like how my wirting in stitch has taken on my hand writing.

The Great Depression: Research

 





Spent this afternoon reading up on 'The Great Depression' 1929. The saddest feature of the depression was the queue of unemployed workers. People who lived through the Depression have never forgotten the anguish of those times, the stark contrast between rich and poor, the absuridity of food being destroyed and the helplessness of man to order his own affairs.

I think these images really highlight this helplessness and desperation, in a simple, honest, understated way; they are just looking for a job.
