Going Visual with it & questionnaire: FMP (final major project)

Some more quick snapshots from my sketchbook. These pages are all about some quick visual responses to my research I have been collecting. Whether that meant collecting, images, colours or textures.

Also been looking at the answers to the questionnaire that I set up online. Some really interesting answers to get me thinking!

Final Major Project: Educating myself about home

Lots & lots & lots of reading to begin my project.
Educating myself as to what is a 'home'.
Researched travellers, refugee camps, communes and squatters,
in order to broaden my mind and to move away from my own ideas of what a home is.
I've enjoyed reading but the next challenge will be taking these ideas into something visual.

Finding Neverland: Sketchbook (4)

Some more research for my little book of stories. This is inspired by the film 'Finding Neverland', which is about J.M Barrie writing Peter Pan.

Lots of potential, in ideas, quotes & imagery, to develop in the next couple of weeks.

Cut up bits of paper and material sewn onto a background. This was one of my designs to enter into a competition blogged about here, development of drawing seen here and here. I felt it ended up looking like the beginnings of an idea, rather than a finished design, so thought it belonged more in a sketchbook context.

There is a beautiful scence in Finding Neverland where
J.M Barrie and Llewelyn Davies family fly a kite together.

The Secret Garden: Sketchbook (4)

So I have been awful this week at keeping to my lent challenge! However, this isn't because I havn't been working. I am pleased to say I have masses of work to blog about so intend to be blogging a plenty next week!
I've started my next project on 'Secrets and Lies'. I've spent about two weeks on this project and have loads of exciting ideas, so much so I will need to start narrowing it down very soon!
These images are from a little book of stories about secrets and lies. I've started with The Secret Garden.

I've always loved the secret garden. There's something magical about it. I love the key she finds in the box, and how she can escapes the strange adult world, with this key through a gate covered in ivy.
Gardens they are always changing and moving on; they don't stand still; always growing. There is something beautiful in that.
I used pastals, an ink pen and collage to make these images.

Sketchbook: Initial thoughts for Competition

Some initial thoughts for competition mentioned in previous post.

Images that I associated with shared memories from experiences with friends. Beach trips, festivals, camping...special moments and places.

I have started trying to establish a colour range as well. Soft, gentle and feminine colours.

I associate the daffodil with this time of year and the gorgeous happy yellow.

All images are watercolour and pen.
